The Santa Barbara County Foodbank says it is still in need of turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving.
Foodbank organizers say they have only received six turkeys at their Santa Maria warehouse. They need at least 1,600 to meet the community's need.
Organizers say they received a grant to purchase 1,000 chickens from Costco, however the Foodbank relies on community donations for turkeys.
The turkeys and other food items go to the foodbank's 300 partner agencies across Santa Barbara County.
A deadline of Friday, Nov. 22 has been set so workers have enough time to deliver the turkeys to various organizations across the county before Thanksgiving.
The Santa Maria warehouse drop-off hours have been extended to 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It's located at 490 W. Foster Road.
There will also be a huge collection point on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at American General Media radio station, 2325 Skyway Drive, from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.
