Crews from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department are conducting a prescribed burn near Tepusquet Canyon, east of Santa Maria.
The burn began Friday, November 5, and is expected to end Sunday, November 7. Crews will burn up to 263 acres.
Officials say it is part of an effort to control non-native grasses and prevent future wildfires.
Residents living in the area and smelling smoke are advised to limit time outdoors.
