Santa Barbara County health officials announced Thursday additional confirmed COVID-19 cases.
They say five more cases are confirmed, making the total number of cases in the county to eight.
There are five cases in North County, and three cases in South County.
The Public Health Department says they are working on identifying the persons who may have come into close contact with these people.
Health officials say it is unknown at this time how the five new cases contracted the virus.
"We are urging our community to stay home when they are sick and practice consistent social distancing practices, shared Van Do-Reynoso, Public Health Director for Santa Barbara County. "It is critical that we all take the necessary steps to slow the spread of this illness in our community."
