Santa Barbara County issues an Air Quality Alert due to Maria Fire

Santa Barbara County officials say the Maria Fire burning in Ventura County is producing smoke that could affect the Santa Barbara area.

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District has issued an Air Quality Alert through the weekend or until conditions improve.

Levels of smoke and particles and the areas affected by them are expected to vary, according to Santa Barbara County officials. The county is advising residents to avoid outdoor activities.
