Santa Barbara police ask community for help locating man accused of battery

Santa Barbara police are searching for a man and a woman involved in a battery of another man near East Beach.

According to the Santa Barbara Police Department, the incident took place around 3:20 p.m. Saturday on the 1100 block of East Cabrillo Blvd. next to the volleyball courts.

Authorities say the person in the above pictures harassed numerous beachgoers and drivers passing by before attacking a Santa Barbara man, taking his hat and American Flag from his car.

Afterwards, the suspect ran towards Butterfly Beach, according to officials.

Police officers, Harbor Patrol and community members helped search for the man, but could not find him.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, 6' tall with short brown hair and tattoos down both arms.

Santa Barbara police say the male suspect was accompanied by a woman about 25- to 30-years-old with blonde hair, wearing a pink and blue bathing suit.

Officers are asking anyone with information to contact the Santa Barbara Police Department.
