Santa Barbara police are investigating a robbery at a downtown retail store after two suspects assaulted an employee and fled the scene.
The incident happened around 5:55 p.m. Thursday at 805 University on State Street. Police say two men entered the store and attempted to steal merchandise.
When an employee tried to stop them, one of the suspects pushed the worker and punched him in the face. Both suspects then ran from the store.
Officers searched the surrounding area but did not locate the suspects.
The two suspects are described as Hispanic men in their early twenties.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and the incident appears to be isolated at this point.
