Santa Barbara residents can now buy recreational marijuana at the city's first storefront.
People lined up around the block Saturday for the grand opening of The Farmacy-- Santa Barbara's first adult-use cannabis retailer.
Located on the corner of Mission St. and De La Vina St., The Farmacy offers a variety of products, many of them locally grown.
The owner, Graham Farrar, also grows cannabis at Glass House Farms in Carpinteria.
"It makes it so obvious to me how much this community is excited about our store," said Farrar. "I mean, we had a line out the door and around the block and everyone was smiling."
He says there was about an hour and a half wait to get in Saturday afternoon.
Hundreds of visitors got to look at some of the cannabis items, meet the staff and learn about the industry.
Saturday's grand opening featured live entertainment, food and partnerships with local businesses and leaders.
Farrar says city council members and county supervisors stopped by the store to show support.

While many dispensaries across the state still require a medical card, The Farmacy doesn't.
As an adult-use recreational storefront, any one 21-years-old and older with a valid ID can buy their products.
They are open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 128 W Mission Street.
According to their website, the business will start offering a delivery service in September.
