A new flight out of the Santa Maria Airport will be available this spring.
Allegiant announced Tuesday that service out of the Portland International Airport would include Santa Maria beginning April 15.
Introductory fares are reportedly as low as $49 each way, but must be purchased by Wednesday, Jan. 13, for travel by Aug. 16, according to Allegiant.
"We're just really excited about the commitment from Allegiant to our community and last year was supposed to be our big year for air service, so we're excited that maybe 2021 will take its place," said airport General Manager Christopher Hastert.
The airline started offering flights from Santa Maria to Las Vegas and Phoenix last fall.
United Airlines is planning to begin flights out of Santa Maria to Denver and San Francisco on June 4.
