21-year-old Julio Cesar Bautista and 21-year-old Jazmin Martinez were sentenced to two years in state prison for first-degree Burglary and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary.

The pair stole a safe with a large amount of money from an elderly victim's home in Santa Maria in December 2019.

In the days after, Bautista and Martinez travelled to the Los Angeles area where they spent a large amount of the victim's money on high-end clothing, hotels and other extravagant purchases.

In February 2020, Bautista was arrested in his home in Santa Maria and Martinez was arrested in Mesa, Arizona. Bautista was released on bail and is scheduled to begin his prison sentence July 16. Martinez has been in custody since her arrest.

Both burglars were court-ordered to pay full restitution to the victim.

The Santa Maria Police Department Detective Bureau is asking for the public's help in recovering any of the stolen money and/or property purchased by the burglars with the stolen money. Anyone with information is asked to call SMPD Detective Jesse Garcia at (805) 928-3781, ext. 1115.
