Two people are facing a variety of charges in connection to a residential burglary in Santa Maria late last year.

The burglary was reported on Dec. 28, 2019. Police say a safe containing a large amount of money was stolen from an elderly victim's home.

Police say they identified two suspects in the case and on Feb. 14, 2020, Julio Cesar Bautista, 21, was arrested at his home in the 400 block of E. Central Ave. Investigators reportedly served a search warrant at Bautista's home and at a second residence in the 1600 block of N. Surrey Way.

Police say the second suspect, identified as Jazmin Martinez, 21, had fled to the Mesa, Arizona area.

An arrest warrant was issued and Martinez was reportedly taken into custody on February 27. Police say a search warrant was also served at a home in Mesa where Martinez had been staying.

She is now awaiting extradition to Santa Barbara County.

Police say several items believed to have been purchased with the stolen money were found during the service of the search warrants.

According to the police department, the two suspects face charges of residential burglary, grand theft, conspiracy, and financial elder abuse.

Police say their investigation is continuing and they're asking anyone with information about the burglary to contact Detective Jesse Garcia, at (805) 928-3781, ext. 1115.
