This year's Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Queen candidates raised more than $440,000 for the local community.

Faith Debrum was named the 2020 Elks Rodeo Queen. She represented VTC Enterprises, an organization that helps individuals with disabilities, and raised more than $245,000.

"It was a lot of fun and it was really surreal," Debrum said. "It took a long time for it to kick in for me but it's a honor to be queen and its a honor to represent VTC."

As part of the contest, Home Motors raffled off a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette.

The winner, John Hochleutner, was announced virtually Wednesday, just as many of the fundraising events were conducted this year due to the pandemic.

Officials say plans are underway for the 77th Santa Maria Elks Rodeo now scheduled for June 3-6 of 2021.
