Santa Maria is offering different ways to help community members observe Dia de los Muertos this year.

According to the press release, the city said they want people to safely celebrate to honor the memory of loved ones.

Every Monday, Oct. 12 through Nov. 9, the city will post about the traditions and customs of Day of the Dead on their social media.

They’re also offering Dia de los Muertos activity kits to reserve online starting Oct. 19.

Residents are encouraged to send pictures of their ofrendas, or colorful altars, to rpinfo@cityofsantamaria.org to be shared to a social media slideshow. The deadline is Nov. 3 at 5 p.m.

Any questions can be directed to the Recreation and Parks Department at (805) 925-0951 ext. 2260.
