SANTA MARIA, Calif. — Santa Maria Firefighters responded to a call of a dog trapped in a canal Sunday evening.
Firefighters say the dog was in the canal on Stokes Avenue and Sugar Bush Drive.

The dog was found howling, wet and dehydrated.
Firefighters were able to retrieve the chihuahua and turned it into Animal Control.
