Two people have been arrested in connection with a gas station robbery in Santa Maria.

The robbery occurred at about 6:40 p.m. on Friday, May 15, at a business in the 1200 block of East Betteravia Rd.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, a description of the robbers was broadcast to area agencies and a San Luis Obispo County deputy recognized the descriptions as similar to a theft case in that county.

Detectives from both agencies worked together to identify the suspects and track their location.

Sheriff's officials say Emanuel Ochoa, 30, of Santa Maria and Brandy Baldivia, 24, of Guadalupe were taken into custody Tuesday at a hotel in Bakersfield.

The two were arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary, false imprisonment, wearing a mask for an unlawful purpose, and conspiracy. Ochoa also had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.

Sheriff's officials say they are continuing to work with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office and the Pismo Beach Police Department, which are both investigating similar cases.
