Santa Maria High School art students are transforming an eyesore into a work of art.
At least 70 art students are painting the walls with murals, but they're not just any old walls.
More than 250 feet of plywood that is surrounding the construction of a new classroom and administration building are being re-vamped.
Students came up with the idea and teachers gave them the green light.
One student chose the Chinese New Year to show diversity in school.
"It’s going to be here for a while, and so we don't want to just look at just a blank wall and I feel like it helps also express other people and how they feel,” said senior student Brenda Ballesteros.
Construction will be completed in the spring of 2022.
