The Santa Maria Joint Union High School District School Board approved plans on July 23 for the new school year.

Schools officials decided to maintain an alpha split within the full distance learning schedule.

This means 80-minute periods at 50% capacity. Overall, this is 720 total minutes a week dedicated to FaceTime instruction.

Teachers will work on-site in classrooms while following health guidelines.

Officials said depending on the status of COVID-19, they'll shift to in-person options whether it's a hybrid model or traditional model.
