Santa Maria library working to reach more people during pandemic

The Santa Maria Public Library is resuming its Zip Books program.

The program allows library patrons to order books that are not currently owned by the library and have them delivered directly to their homes. The books may be returned to the library.

To place an order request, visit the library's website or call (805) 925-0994 and speak with Youth Services or Reference Services staff.

The Santa Maria Public Library is also taking its new bookmobile on tour.

The "SMPL To Go" bookmobile will depart the library at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and make the following stops:

  1. Central Plaza Apartments, 200 N. McClelland Street
  2. Ted Zenich Gardens, 1034 E. Chapel Street
  3. Evans Park, 200 W. Williams Street
  4. Preisker Park, 330 Hidden Pines Way
  5. Boys and Girls Club, 901 N. Railroad Avenue
  6. The Residences at Depot Street, 205 N. Depot Street
  7. YMCA, 3400 Skyway Drive
  8. Broadway Pavillion Shopping Center, S. Broadway and McCoy Lane
  9. Rancho Hermosa, 235 E. Inger Drive

The Santa Maria Public Library and its branches are currently open only for sidewalk pick-up service until further notice. The library also offers 24/7 digital resources, including downloadable eBooks, movies, magazines, and audiobooks at www.cityofsantamaria.org/Library.
