The man accused of a deadly shooting earlier this month in Santa Maria appeared in court Wednesday but did not enter a plea.

Juan Carlos Hernandez, 29, is charged with murder for the Oct. 6 shooting that occurred in front of 805 Tacos on West Main Street.

Jose Gonzalez Medina, 33, was killed in that shooting.

Hernandez was identified as a suspect early on in the investigation.

Police announced this week that he was arrested in Mexico with help from the U.S. Marshal's Office.

Hernandez is scheduled to return to court in November.

He is being held at Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $3 million.
