A felon is back behind bars after Santa Maria police arrested him for possession of a stolen AR 15 rifle, ammunition and methamphetamine.

On June 26th, Santa Maria Police Department Special Enforcement Team (SET) conducted a narcotic investigation at a motel on the 1600 block of S. Broadway around 8 p.m.

In a press release, police said 41-year-old Jesus Tobias of Santa Maria was found to be in unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a methamphetamine smoking pipe, a stolen AR 15 rifle, 159 rounds of .223 ammunition, and a high capacity rifle magazine.

The AR 15 rifle was previously reported stolen out of San Luis Obispo County, according to officials.

Tobias is a convicted felon and was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.
