Santa Maria Police investigate threat to Allan Hancock College

Santa Maria Police say there is no threat to Allan Hancock College after investigating a social media post.

Police say they were made aware of the threat at around 3 a.m. Thursday that was posted on social media.

The threat was made towards Allan Hancock College. Further investigation determined the threat was made about two weeks ago.

Detectives identified the suspect as a 13-year-old male who is a Santa Maria resident. Police made contact with the teen who admitted to posting the threat to social media.

Police then determined the threat to the safety of students and staff at Allan Hancock College was unsubstantiated. Therefore there is no threat at this time.

Police say due to the suspect's age, the name or other identifying information will not be released.
