Santa Maria Police make second arrest in New Year's Day stabbing

Two men are under arrest following a stabbing that took place on New Year's Day.

Santa Maria Police arrested Alberto Morelos Pablo, 18, of Santa Maria on Friday.

The stabbing happened at around 2:13 a.m. Jan. 1 in the area of Boone Street and Thornburg.

When police arrived they found two people who suffered injuries.

One person had sustained a stab wound and was transported to Cottage Hospital. The other had suffered a head injury and was transported to Marian Medical Center.

On Jan. 3 police arrested Eduardo Garcia Barrueta, 18, of Santa Maria also in connection with the stabbing.

Both men have been booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Barrueta is facing charges for attempted murder and criminal street gang enhancement. His bail is set at $80,000. Pablo is facing charges for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, auto theft and a criminal street gang enhancement. His bail is set at $100,000.

Both victims have since been treated and released from the hospitals.
