Sex offender given maximum sentence for crimes against teen girls

A San Luis Obispo County judge on Thursday sentenced a convicted sex offender to 47 years and four months in prison.

In September, a jury found Jess Drue Brasuell III, 59, guilty of 20 felony sex crimes committed against four teenage girls between.

Several of the victims, who were between the ages of 15 and 17 at the time the crimes were committed, provided statements during Brasuell's sentencing hearing.

Atascadero police arrested Brasuell in November 2017, and he has remained in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail ever since.

He was given the maximum sentence for the crimes, which included meeting a minor for lewd purposes, committing a lewd act on a child, rape of a minor by use of drugs, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, forced oral copulation of a minor, sexual penetration with a foreign object, providing harmful matter to a minor with sexual intent, photographing and filming a minor for sexual purposes, possession of child pornography, and providing narcotic drugs to a minor.
