Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Custody Deputy and Deputy Test Positive for COVID-19

A Santa Barbara County Custody Deputy and Sheriff's Deputy have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Custody Deputy worked in the Main Jail, according to a press release from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office -- and last worked on March 26. The Custody Deputy tested positive on March 29. Subsequently, a member of his family has also tested positive.

In a separate incident, another Sheriff's Deputy that has tested positive for COVID-19 is recovering at home. The Deputy last worked March 18. The Deputy developed symptoms on March 19 and had not returned to work since; they were tested on March 26 and received a positive result on March 30.

No additional staff have been isolated as result of these new positive COVID-19 cases.
