The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's deputy.

It happened at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at La Jolla Court and South Oak Park Boulevard in Grover Beach.

Sheriff's officials say a deputy who was on routine patrol crashed his vehicle into a tree in the front yard of a home. The house also sustained some damage as a result of the crash.

The deputy was reportedly taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries and released.

Sheriff's officials say no one else was involved in the incident and there were no other injuries.

The cause of the crash has not been disclosed.

People in the Five Cities area may have also noticed a helicopter conducting a search at around the same time on Tuesday. Sheriff's officials say that was related to the search for a suspect who failed to yield to law enforcement and led deputies on a short, 30-second pursuit. It was reportedly unrelated to the deputy's crash.
