SLO Brewing Co. says it's fundraiser brought in more than $16,000 for the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.

The local brewery and taproom hosted a fundraiser in response to the devastating fires sweeping Australia.

Slo brew donated 25 percent of all food and beverage sales to the Australian Red Cross.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity our community has shown in supporting the state of emergency in Australia,” said Australian co-owner Hamish Marshall. “Over a thousand people came out, reached into their pockets and helped us make a difference.”

SLO Brew partnered with Makeshift Makers Market to host an event with 20 vendors and a benefit concert.

The money raised was used to send trained staff and volunteers to affected communities and help long term recovery implementation and emergency assistance.
