Another longtime San Luis Obispo business is closing its doors.

Charles Shoes on the 800 block of Higuera Street put banners and signs up Saturday night announcing the store would be closing.

Jason Ashley says his mother, Cyndi, is retiring and made the decision to close the store she has worked at fulltime since 1978.

Ashley says his grandparents bought the store from Charles Wiesman in 1966.

Charles Shoes is currently closed and has paper up on the windows as the business get things ready for a going out of business/retirement sale, which will begin Thursday at 10 a.m.

Ashley says there is no set timeline on when the store will close for good, just "until we've sold everything."
