The City of San Luis Obispo announced 52 recipients that each received $5,000 from the small business relief fund.

The City partnered with The Community Foundation SLO County and SLO Chamber of Commerce to provide money for small businesses impacted by COVID-19.

Recipients were notified September 22.

The businesses will use the funds for things like utilities, rent, payroll, new inventory and equipment and rehiring employees.

The relief fund received more than 400 applications from local businesses. 52 recipients were chosen based on an extensive screening process.

Some of the recipients include Mike's Barber Shop, Little Bears Daycare and Fremont Theater.

Additional funding has not yet been scheduled but the SLO Chamber is asking anyone who would like to offer financial support to get in contact.

The funds for the SLO City Small Business Relief Fund came from the City of SLO’s CARES Act funding and two anonymous private donors.
