The San Luis Obispo City Council will discuss two big downtown projects at their Tuesday meeting this week.

First, is a plan to replace the restrooms and add a café at Mission Plaza.

The project has been in the works for years, with the design phase starting in 2018.

The council will get an update on the project, take a look at design concepts, and discuss whether a standalone café is preferred or if food trucks should be considered.

The city council will also consider whether to put more money toward a new downtown parking garage.

The garage is planned for the corner of Palm and Nipomo streets.

An additional $325,000 is being requested to pay for a consultant to create a communications plan for the project and to pay for final design services.

The total price tag for the project is currently nearly $1.8 million.

The city council meets at 6 p.m. at the City Council Chambers on Palm Street in San Luis Obispo.
