Several people reported hearing the county's emergency sirens sounding Wednesday morning in the south San Luis Obispo County area.
The SLO County Office of Emergency Services says there was no emergency. Rather, techs were conducting annual maintenance on the sirens.
During regular maintenance, the techs may conduct a short, low-volume test to make sure the siren is functioning.
Because Wednesday's work caused some alarm, the Office of Emergency Services says the maintenance work has been stopped for now.
