San Luis Obispo County reported 70 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing the county's total to 2,735 confirmed cases as of Aug. 24.
Twenty-seven cases were reported Saturday, 17 cases were reported Sunday, and 26 cases were reported Monday.
Seventeen people are hospitalized, including five patients who are in the ICU.
Another 414 people are recovering at home and 2,282 people have recovered.
San Luis Obispo County has had 21 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
The health department reports that a total of 52,804 coronavirus tests have been conducted so far at both the public health lab and at private labs.
Free coronavirus tests are currently available in Grover Beach and San Luis Obispo by appointment only.
Health officials say 45.59% of the county's total cases are the result of the patient having direct contact with a person who tested positive for the virus; 26.91% of the cases are attributed to community spread; and, 6.69% cases are the result of travel outside the county. 20.80% cases are still under investigation.
