The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is working to identify the owners of some stolen property that was recently recovered in the Templeton area.

Sheriff's officials say they took several reports of thefts in the Las Tablas Rd., Hawley St., and Cayucos Ave. areas starting December 23.

On December 30, investigators reportedly made contact with a possible suspect identified by the sheriff's office as Cody Smith, 18, of Templeton.

Sheriff's officials say Smith, who is on probation, was found to be in possession of several items of stolen property believed to be linked to the recent thefts.

Smith was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of stolen property, and prowling. He was booked into County Jail where his bail is set at $20,000.

The sheriff's office says it has returned some of the stolen property to the victims, but they are still working to identify additional victims.

Anyone who was the victim of a theft in the Templeton area over the past week and has not reported it is urged to contact the sheriff's office at (805) 781-4550.
