On Thursdays, car enthusiasts and more have been enjoying SLO Cruise Night in downtown San Luis Obispo.

The event was started by Cavin Stokes and Nic Cano, and they say the event has grown considerably in the last few weeks -- from around 30 cars four weeks ago to about 500.

SLO Cruise Night invites people to join the community and ride through downtown San Luis Obispo; the driving rout is a loop starting at the downtown Wells Fargo.

People that attend the cruise are asked to keep safe social distance and wear masks.

Both Stokes and Cano have been surprised by the turn out.

"This is incredible," said Cavin Stokes, the co-organizer of the event. "We didn't expect this at all; we just love that the community is out here and there so many cool cars."

The SLO Cruise Night happens every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
