SLO Grilled Cheese Festival goes online for cheesy charity fundraiser

The popular SLO Grilled Cheese Festival is changing plans for this year's event.

Due to the pandemic, the festival will be done virtually. Organizers are encouraging locals to get in on the fun by submitting their cheesy creations for video judging.

To compete, you must purchase a competitor ticket for $65. Team competitor tickets are $125. Then, submit your recipe, photos and video of your grilled cheese masterpiece.

Awards will be given for People’s Choice, Most Spirited and Big Chedda' which celebrates the team that raises the most money for Restorative Partners.

As a 'thank you' for your ticket purchase, organizers will give you a cookbook filled with grilled cheese recipes from 2019's competitors, local celebrities, sponsors and community members.

Non-profit Restorative Partners provides services and programs for people who are in jail or have been recently released to help them improve their lives and become productive community members.

The support the cause, you may make an online donation ranging from $1-500.

On May 30, everyone is invited to watch a Facebook live-stream of the No-Show SLO Grilled Cheese Festival from 12-1:30 p.m. The winners of the three award categories will be announced and viewers are encouraged to enjoy a grilled cheese at home while watching.
