UPDATE: SLO County Sheriff's Office says man wanted for vandalizing county building has been located

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — UPDATE (5:45 p.m.) - Officials with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office say Sunday night that they have located the man accused of vandalizing a county building Saturday morning in San Luis Obispo.

According to a press release, state park rangers at the Pismo State Beach North Beach campground safely located 31-year-old Benjamin Aaron Karp.

Officials arrested Karp, who will be transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

Karp reportedly escaped the San Luis Obispo County Psychiatric Health Facility Saturday morning wearing blue scrubs and no shoes.

UPDATE (8:15 p.m): The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says they received reports Saturday of 31-year-old Benjamin Aaron Karp of San Luis Obispo vandalizing property at the San Luis Obispo County Psychiatric Facility (PHF) in San Luis Obispo.

Officials say Karp is currently a patient at the facility and before law enforcement arrived on scene, Karp had escaped the PHF.

A BOL or Be On the Lookout was issued to all law enforcement agencies in the county.

Karp is described as a White male, 6' 0" tall, 190 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

Officials say he was last seen wearing blue scrubs and no shoes.

Officers do not believe Karp is a danger to the public.

ORIGINAL STORY: The San Luis Obispo Police Department is looking for a man they say vandalized a county building Saturday.

In a tweet posted Saturday, police say Benjamin Karp is wanted by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office for vandalizing a county building on the 2100 block of Johnson Avenue around 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police say Karp fled north from the area and is wearing blue scrubs and no shoes.

He is wanted on a $100 warrant by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, according to police.

If anyone sees him, they're asked to call 9-1-1.
