The Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo normally sees thousands of students from the Central Coast come through the doors to attend live performances each year, but since it’s closed because of the pandemic, the PAC will keep students connected to music and theatre virtually.

PAC Outreach and Cal Poly Arts’ Poly Arts for Youth are offering free virtual field trips for students in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County schools. Teachers can choose to register their students for a variety of performances and workshops during the virtual student matinee season.

One virtual field trip includes Grammy Award-winning artist, Sonia De Los Santos.

Performing Arts Center Outreach Program Manager, Andrea Castillo, says bringing the performances into the students’ homes will benefit their learning experience.

“Nothing will replace that live performance experience and that field trip to the Performing Arts Center, but we’re just thrilled to be reconnecting with the schools because it makes us feel a part of our community to be able to offer this programming,” Castillo said. “We know that the arts helps students to learn and express themselves.”

More than 3,000 students have already registered. The content is available into the spring of 2021.
