San Luis Obispo Police officers will educate the community about how their department operates.

Community members are invited to the 'Peace' Program: Providing Education and Community Engagement about public safety.

The departments says they understand how important it is to have a trusting relationship with the community, and they believe they must take ownership in creating those relationships.

The Peace Program was launched in 2017. The program is a two hour discussion that focuses on police protocols for use of force, police body cameras and mental health resources.

Those in attendance will have a chance to ask questions of different police professionals.

The event takes place at the San Luis Obispo Police Department on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The talks are limited to the first 120 people who sign up.
