Southern California Edison said it has deployed its Community Outreach Vehicle to Girsh Park in Goleta to help people impacted by the Safety Power Shutoff.

The utility shut off power for residents west of Goleta because of high fire risk in the area.

The people living in the following areas have been notified of the shutoff:

  • Unincorporated areas from Gaviota to Point Conception
  • Unincorporated areas west of Goleta

The Safety Power Shutoff is a precautionary measure the utility is taking to reduce the risk of fire.

It is unclear when power will be turned back on.

The van is at 7050 Phelps Road in Goleta and is equipped with backup power to charge electronic devices and also has snacks and water.
