It’s time for the wine grape harvest at Pioneer Valley High School.
However, the school said in a press release because there are no ag students on campus this year, about a dozen staff members had to hit the vineyard in their place.
Staff harvested about 200 pounds of chardonnay and 120 pounds of pinot noir, according to the press release.
“Normally, I go out to the vineyard to harvest with my classes and it ends up a fun experience for them to see the end product,’’ agriculture/FFA teacher Hector Guerra said in the release. “This year with not having the students around, I figured I would invite the staff to join in on the fun.’’
The syrah is to be harvested in October.
