A viral monolith is back on Pine Mountain in Atascadero Saturday after it was removed from the hiking trail Thursday.
Officials with the City of Atascadero confirmed Saturday morning that the steel, three-sided monolith is back on the popular hiking trail.
The nearly 10-foot structure was first spotted on the mountain in northern San Luis Obispo County Wednesday, going viral on social media due to its mysterious appearance.
Less than 24 hours after its initial appearance, video surfaced on social media showing a group of out-of-towners removing the monolith from the mountain.
Other similar structures were also reported in a remote part of Utah, Romania and Las Vegas.
City officials were told that some Atascadaero residents were the ones to first place the monolith on Pine Mountain.
