Surfers in Pismo and Avila beach paddled out on June 5 to honor George Floyd and those killed by police brutality, according to an Instagram post by @blackgirlssurf.
This event, "Solidarity in Surf," was promoted worldwide through social media with locations ranging from New York to Indonesia.
Everyone was encouraged to come, while paying attention to social distancing guidelines and bring any non-motorized water vessel to participate, according to the post.
