San Luis Obispo Police are working an arson investigation at the Sinsheimer Park Baseball Stadium’s playground structure.

Police responded to reports of “fireworks” in the area of Sinsheimer School and surrounding neighborhood at around 12:11 a.m. Sunday.

Police say when they responded they found the playground structure on fire and four subjects running in the area.

The responding officer caught two of the four teens at the scene and the other two fled the area.

After a short search officers located the two other teens nearby.

San Luis Obispo City Fire Department responded to the scene and was able to put out the fire before additional structures were threatened.

Fire fighters say the damage was primarily limited to the upper climbing portions of the play structure located in the playground near the entrance to the Sinsheimer Park Baseball Stadium.

Police say it is believed the teens detained at the scene were the only subjects involved in the arson. Their identities are not being released at this time as they are all minors and this investigation is on-going.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about this investigation is asked to contact Officer Megan Donovan at 805-781-7312.
