The Templeton Fire and Emergency Services Department is starting 24/7 staffing as of Saturday.
The 24/7 staffing was made possible thanks to Measure A passed last year with a 77% approval rate from the community.
Fire crews invited residents to their station Saturday morning to celebrate the official start of the around-the-clock staffing.
Fire Chief Tom Peterson of the Templeton Fire and Emergency Services Department said this change will help crews respond to emergencies quicker.
"If somebody's having a heart issue, in that critical four to six minute time factors into play, we're coming right from the station, not having to come into the station and then respond and that could be a matter of saving a life", Chief Peterson said.
The fire station offered coffee and donuts to attendees and held a meet-and-greet with the fire captains and reserve firefighters.
