The Templeton Fire Stairclimb team donned their full gear and climbed up the stairs at Templeton High School Stadium Sunday morning to raise money for cancer patients.

According to Brandon Wall, the captain of the Templeton Fire Department, 2,100 firefighters participated in today's event throughout the country.

"We just want to thank the community for being patient with us. We know that this is a disappointing decision but they're keeping people safe up North," added Wall.

Crews were supposed to travel for the 29th annual Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle, WA, but the event was postponed due to coronavirus concerns.

The postponement also impacted all stairclimb teams domestically and internationally.

So far, the Templeton Fire Department has raised nearly $26,000 for the LLS.
