The Community Foundation of SLO County awards more than $32K to nonprofits

The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County is working to support local vulnerable populations through its Disaster Support Fund.

The Foundation awarded $32,900 to four local nonprofit organizations. All of the money was donated by residents of San Luis Obispo County.

Nonprofit awardees include Community Action Partnership of SLO County, Center for Family Strengthening, People's Self-Help Housing and Transitions-Mental Health Association.

The donations will support basic needs like food, shelter and transportation for those in need in San Luis Obispo County. It will also help fund necessary emotional support, resources and accurate information for the Latino and Mixteco community.

The Community Foundation said it will continue to award Disaster Support Fund rapid response grants to nonprofits with donations ranging between $5,000 and $20,000.

Donations can be made to the Disaster Support Fund on The Community Foundation's website. Administrative fees associated with the fund have been waived.

The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County has been supporting charitable work with grants since 1998. It has granted more than $37 million since its establishment.
