NIPOMO, Calif. — The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported burglary at The Mayor's Place restaurant in Nipomo.

The on-duty Watch Commander says they received calls around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning that the backdoor of the restaurant was forced open.

When restaurant staff entered the building, deputies say the employees discovered the safe had been pulled out.

The owner of the restaurant tells KSBY the reported suspect(s) caused about $700 in damages, took around $400 from the register, and stole donations they were collecting for the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society, that could have been over $100.

The sheriff's office says the business next door may have surveillance video of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to give the sheriff's office a call.
