UPDATE: Power restored following major San Luis Obispo County outage

UPDATE (2:25 p.m.) - PG&E says power has been restored to all customers impacted by the equipment issue at an electrical substation in Templeton. The exact cause is still being investigated.

Cal Poly says the electrical feed to the university has been restored and crews are now working to restore power on campus. They expected that to happen by around 3 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY: Several large power outages are affecting people in San Luis Obispo County from Atascadero to Cambria to Morro Bay, and even Cal Poly.

In the Cambria area, nearly 10,000 PG&E customers are without power.

More than 9,000 customers are without power in an area that stretches from Santa Margarita to Atascadero.

Nearly 290 customers are without power just east of Morro Bay, and in Cayucos, that number is 4,845.

All of the outages began at 1:24 p.m.

PG&E says they are investigating an equipment issue at an electrical substation in Templeton.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Cal Poly Police also reported that a power outage was affecting the entire campus.

It's unknown when the power will be restored or if it's connected to the PG&E issue.
