(UPDATE: 12:40 a.m.) - Power has been restored to over 2,000 Santa Maria residents.
According to PG&E power was restored just before 12:30 p.m.
PG&E says the cause of the outage was determined to be a burned component on an electrical pole located on the 2500 block of Castlerock Lane.

Thousands of residents in Santa Maria are without power Thursday morning.
According to PG&E, 2,347 residents are without power from just south of Betteravia Road to up north at West Stowell Road.
PG&E says the outage began at around 9:30 a.m. and they expect power to be restored by 1:30 p.m.
According to the outage map, PG&E believes the outage is due to an equipment issue.
