SANTA MARIA — The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating a Saturday night shooting that left three people hospitalized.
According to a news release from the police department, officers received reports at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday regarding gunshots heard near the 1200 block of North Mary Drive.
When officers arrived, they found "evidence of a shooting" near a home and started conducting a shooting investigation, according to the news release.
Shortly after law enforcement secured the scene, police saw a car arriving at the Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria with three adults inside, all of whom had multiple apparent gunshot wounds, officials said. Authorities said the three adults were residents of Santa Maria.
Detectives with the Santa Maria Police Department and the Crime Lab are continuing to investigate the shooting.
The police department asks community members in the surrounding area to check surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity.
