A Lompoc burger joint is celebrating 40 years of business.
Tom's burgers opened Dec. 3, 1979 and has been in its current location at 115 E. College Ave. #13 since 1987.
Known for itsA-Z burgers, one for every letter of the alphabet - from peanut butter, to banana to chili and beans - the restaurant is considered a staple in the community.
"People always say coming here feels like coming home. I mean, we get kids coming home from college that we're their first stop when they come back to Lompoc. We have customers that have to call in and tell us they're not coming in today so we don't worry that there not here," laughed Jennifer Villarreal, Tom's manager and daughter of the owner.
To celebrate the milestone, some Tom's customers lined up outside the restaurant earlier this month to each present a flower - 40 in all - to the owner.
Villarreal says she believes everyone keeps supporting the business because of how her mom continually gives back to the community.
