UPDATE: Two people arrested after fight left two seriously injured in Santa Barbara

UPDATE (8:34 p.m.) - On Saturday, Santa Barbara Police arrested two men in connection to a fight that took place Friday.

Detectives arrested Christian Menth, age 22, and Miguel Ascencio, age 18, for conspiracy and attempted murder for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

Both subjects were booked at Santa Barbara County Jail on warrants with $600,000. Bail.

The two victims appeared to have been stabbed.

ORIGINAL STORY (3:25 p.m.) - Two people are injured following a fight in Santa Barbara Friday evening.

The Santa Barbara Police Department responded to the area of San Andres and Sola St around 5:30 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of several men fighting.

People reported that the men were using improvised weapons.

When officers arrived on scene, they were unable to locate the involved parties.

However, several blocks away, police found one victim who suffered major injuries. A second victim, also with serious injuries, was taken to the hospital, according to officials.

Officials said the victims' injuries were consistent with the "use of edged weapons."

The Santa Barbara Investigative Bureau is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
